Something i want to tell my boss soon
I think my technical skills are mature enough...
my works are neat...
my attitude is postive...
So, it is time for me...
to prepare myself when the opportunity comes
to learn to coordinate works
to learn to compile information
to learn how to communicate effectively
to talk more in meeting
to be led by talented supervisors
to learn how to take lead
to be professional at my work

Don't get it at all
Worked one year for nothing?
I know...
It's economic downturn..
there're retrenchments...
there're salary cuts...
there're forced unpay leaves...
But still... i don't get it.. In comparison...
What makes me worse??
Customer complains??
Colleagues complain??
Come to work late?? Leave early??
Didn't get my work done properly??
left overs for others??
Not learning fast enough??
I didn't get any increment this year! Not upset, just sad...
I hope you are feeling better... coz u r not the worst... i am...

Shell Interview

I went for an interview with Shell last monday and i got the result today which is something like "we regret to have to tell you....", you got it. Em.. it's dissapointing but i have already gave my best in the interview =(
I can't find any reason besides i am not good enough for the job. I would never apply Shell again because i don't want to get rejected for a second time. Well, even though it's a failure, i would like to share my Shell interview experience to those who is going for one soon.
It's a 45 mins 1 to 1 interview session and they already have everything they want to ask within the time frame, so basically you don't need to prepare anything. Not really, the first 5 mins they will ask you to show your certificates to them, you better show them the most important ones which you are proud of since you only have 5 mins. After that they will ask for your career preferences, such as technical/non-technical position, flexibility of work location etc.
Next session should be different for everyone but i will just state out the questions they asked me.
1. Describe one of your experiences where you were in a team and you are having a different opinion from other team members. Advantage?Disadvantage? How do you overcame it?
2. Describe one of your experiences where you have to manage/lead another person. What is the issues and how do you overcome them.
3. Choose one from four topics. Can't remember the other 3 but the topic i have chosen was "Manage Company Reputation".
- Use 1-2 sentences to explain Manage company reputation
- Advantages/Disadvantages
- If you were the CEO for the company, how would you manage company reputation.
- Others (you can say anything related to the topic)
That's pretty much end up the interview session. Em.. i am pretty sure you not only have to answer the questions but you have to demonstrate to them that you are different from ordinary.

Stay Back
AF: "Should I assign this task to you or chong yong?"
YP: "Chong Yong, he can stay back and do since he always leave early."
CY: "........"
I know it was my fault, i told YP i am ok to stay back to get my works done in time. That is because my definition of "stay back" and her definition of "stay back" is different. For me, i am willing to fix unexpected issue as soon as possible and if it requires me to work late i am fine. Just like what happened when ELA phase 1 went live, i worked until 9pm for 2 weeks to fix the daily reported bugs. I never complained a thing because i know these works need to be done because the users are using the system.
Unfortunately this is not what's happening now. In normal days, i hope that the tasks assigned and the time given to complete it is realistic. When i am working, i give 100% of my efforts. I don't browse, chat or do anything personal. Since i joined this new project, normally i leave work at 6.30-7.00, was it too early?
Talk about coding, I believe i have the right attitude. I spent all my working time to code carefully and check every procedure carefully to make sure the quality of my work is ok. What is the point to work until 12am everyday if i use all the time to browse net, read forum, chatting or sleep?
The perception "Work late = good employee" just doesn't make sense to me. Everyday i have to travel 2 hours and the time left for myself is very little. Put yourself on other's shoe and you will get more helps when you need it. When work late is calculated to complete the project in time, you've made me hate my job.
